The limited edition CD features great new music including Converge, Not Alone, Stories of Hope, Together We Glorify Jesus, and Living for Heaven, and comes with a bonus DVD of the Live Recording Concert held in June. The accompanying songbook has sheet music and lyrics, so your congregation can start using the music before NCYC09!

NEED HELP WITH PROMO OR WANT TO BOOK A SPEAKER?

There's now a lot you can do to promote NCYC09 in your local congregations, groups and schools - including the promo video, posters, rego forms, or book speaker to come and speak to your congregation/school/youth group. Check out ncyc.org.au/promo for more information or just contact the office.

HAVE YOU REGISTERED?

You can register online right now at ncyc.org.au/registration, or you can register over the phone, on paper, or register your group as a bulk rego (through the NCYC09 Office). No matter how you do it, just make sure you do, so you don't miss out on this amazing event! Give the office a call to get more detailed rego information, details below.

REGISTERED DELEGATES

So you've registered to come to NCYC09 - that's great, and we can't wait to see you there! Keep checking this section for updates or friendly reminders to make your NCYC09 experience as fantastic as we can. You can also check http://ncyc.org.au to see how you can get involved in addition to being a delegate - perhaps as a small group leader, be part of a team, or help out with any of the hundreds of jobs that have your name written on it! In fact, here are some ways right here:

Red Lobby Yellow Lobby

Have you ever considered lobbying your local politician? NCYC09 is looking for Melbourne delegates to be part of the Submerge day of Action and Service team.

Specifically, the team is after delegates keen to meet with their local member to discuss local, national and global issue they are interested in. We hope to get 2-4 from each electorate (within travel limits) to meet with the member as part of the day -- plus, once we have people signed up with local member we have more chance/pull with federal ministers!

Don't be worried about not having done this stuff before... that's the point! We aim to help you start.

So just like Jesus isn't very picky with who he calls......If you are willing we are keen to help make this happen.

Contact the submersions team on submersion@ncyc.org.au or Adrian Greenwood on age@morepraxis.org.au (PS, say the section heading 10 times fast).

Filmmakers: Even the waters converge

Filmmakers, here's your brief for NCYC09.
All the worship services at convention will focus on the theme of water, so we are putting out a call for film makers to create short (3 min) digital movies of their local water, which will be projected during worship.

It would be great to see a wide range of water representing the places delegates have come from - slow flowing rivers, to a dry inland creek bed, irrigation channels, big surf, even the local swimming pool... anything! More information on the film brief, including technical requirements, is online at http://ncyc.org.au/get-involved/artists-filmmakers/. Deadline for submissions is 30th October.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS

An Adult Volunteer (AV) is someone usually older than delegate-age who help out during the week of the convention to make NCYC "happen". About 100 adult volunteers will be required – so that means you!

As an AV, you’re allocated tasks which are suited to your skills and talents. Right now, the following are known to be particular requirements:

  • People with a Heavy Rigid or Light Rigid licence
  • Assistants for the 6-11 (children's) program
  • Rubbish auditing (part of being a registered 'wastewise conference’ - but it sounds worse than it is!)

While NCYC09 won’t have an adult convention like Perth, being an AV is great way of still participating in the NCYC09 program, while helping out at the same time.

To find out more about being an AV, visit the adult volunteer page of the website, contact the office, or you can register right now at ncyc.org.au/registration.

GETTING INVOLVED

FUNDRAISING

A new section to highlight some fundraising activities that are going on at the moment, plus some ideas for your own fundraising!

Darren Wright from the NSW Synod is shaving his head to raise funds for disadvantaged delegates -- and it's a lot of hair too! To sponsor Darren, drop him an email at djwright@netspace.net.au

For more ideas, and to post your own thoughts, visit http://ncyc.org.au/promo/fundraising.

CHAPLAINS

The role of the chaplain at NCYC is as diverse as you would expect when 2000 young people from all over Australia and overseas and a whole heap of adult volunteers gather for a residential week of exploring what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Predominately the role is to pastorally care for all people who attend and are involved in the convention.

Assistant Chaplains
NCYC09 is offering opportunities for Assistant Chaplains who will be people with some emerging gifts for pastoral ministry. Their role will be similar to that of the chaplain, but they will spend time with our more experienced chaplains who will mentor and guide them.

For more information on the role of Chaplain or Assistant Chaplain at convention or how you can get involved please contact Rev Mark Dunn at mark@dunn.id.au or Rev Cameron McAdam at cameronmcadam@hotmail.com. Or you can contact the NCYC09 office at converge@ncyc.org.au or call 1300 00 NCYC.

Community Leaders

Being a Community leader at NCYC is an important task as you work alongside other leaders to create a memorable(sometimes even life changing) experience for young people from all across Australia.
Community Leaders and Assistant Community Leaders lead communities of up to 100 young people and are responsible for a safe, nurturing well organized experience where delegates, sleep, worship and share in small groups at all times other than when the whole convention meets together.

For more information about the role or how to apply please visit the community volunteers section of the website, contact Nat Dixon on natdixon@ozemail.com.au or the NCYC09 office at converge@ncyc.org.au or call 1300 00 NCYC.

Small Group Leaders

Being a small group leader at NCYC is a key role in creating a memorable experience for all delegates. If you are a youth leader in your congregation or local community and would like to get involved in helping out with NCYC09, or if you have wanted to develop your leadership skills then this role is for you. For more information on being a small group leader please contact the NCYC office at converge@ncyc.org.au or call 1300 00 NCYC.

Overseas Delegates and Indigenous Delegates Teams

We are requiring help in providing bedding for overseas and indigenous delegates that will be attending NCYC09. We need all types of bedding -- sleeping bags, blankets, pillows etc -- either for donation or on loan. Whilst we don't need any of these items just yet, we do need to know whether you can help out! So if you can , please contact Tee on ph 03 9340 8810 or tee@ncyc.org.au, and we'll be in contact to arrange a pick up/drop off time for later in the year.

NCYC's TOP #09 NEEDS:

#09 – An 8 tonne truck and driver for a week either side of NCYC09
#08 – Qualified and friendly bus drivers to volunteer for the week
#07 – Five marquees for loan
#06 – Security lighting and fencing
#05 – Gaffer tape. Lots of gaffer tape.
#04 – Bedding, such as sleeping bags, blankets and pillows for Indigenous and Overseas delegates
#03 – Sunscreen – because it’s going to be sunny every single day!
#02 – Adult volunteers to help distribute food, welcome delegates, clean toilets…
#01 – More registered delegates!

If you can help out with any of these things please get in contact with Mick at the NCYC09 office on 1300 00 NCYC or email him at mick@ncyc.org.au.
