The fortnightish email update.Hi there everyone, there's a bunch of new stuff in the email update this time around
so listen up. Interested in being on Main Stage at convention? Checkout the new Bible Study Leaders, choose your Submersion Areas and of course don't forget that all important Converge [LIVE] CD+DVD! UPDATESBIBLE STUDY LEADERSJust who is going to challenge you, inspire you, excite, teach and engage you at NCYC09? Who are they, where are they from, and what are they going to talk about? We're really lucky to have Al Macrae and Kylie Crabbe from Victoria; Stu Cameron and Ralph Mayhew from Queensland; Rob Hanks from New South Wales; Elizabeth Boase and Ofa Fotu from Western Australia; and Craig Mitchell from South Australia. Robyn Whitaker, who is also one of our keynote speakers, is also going to lead a session. More leaders will be announced soon. All the Bible Study Leaders bring with them amazing knowledge and different experiences and ideas, so we're looking forward to them being a major highlight at NCYC09. All the Bible Studies are 'streamed' into three different levels, depending on where you are in your faith journey. Just only discovering all this God stuff? 'Surfing' is probably the stream for you. Perhaps you're a bit more comfortable with faith, so 'Snorkelling' is for you. If you're ready to jump in the deep end and tackle the big questions and ideas, 'Scuba Diving' is the way to go. To find out more about the Bible Studies and the leaders, check out Bible Studies at ncyc.org.au. CHOOSE YOUR SUBMERSIONSubmersions are a huge part of NCYC09 - it's the day where everyone goes out into the community to take action, protest, give community service, and live out social justice. There are descriptions of what areas of the submersion activities are available at http://ncyc.org.au/program/submersions, and you can now choose which one of those areas you want to do! GET ON THE MAINSTAGEThe Whole Convention Gathering team is looking for performers and backstage people to help with the main stage:
BE A COMMTECHWho am I? If this sounds like you, or you know someone it sounds like, please send an email to joss@ncyc.org.au or call 1300 00 NCYC and speak to Joss or one of the other NCYC staff. KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING. BE A MARK.Are you a veteran NCYCer? Time to take NCYC to the next level and become a MARK. MARKs are delegates who volunteer to be information hubs at convention: they're the go-to people for delegates who want to know what's going on, helping make NCYC09 a fun and informed place for all! This opportunity is open to both delegates and adult volunteers in the Victas Synod, and is a great leadership opportunity for anyone who's energetic and friendly. Contact Rob Clarke at rob.clarke@ncyc.org.au, or call NCYC09 on 1300 00 NCYC. ADULT VOLUNTEERSAn Adult Volunteer (AV) is someone usually older than delegate-age who help out during the week of the convention to make NCYC "happen". About 100 adult volunteers will be required – so that means you! To find out more about being an AV, contact the office, or you can register right now at ncyc.org.au/registration. Kermit was wrong. It is easy being green! So, how about volunteering for the environment at NCYC09? The Environment Team are looking for 1 or 2 adult volunteers to help NCYC09 be WasteWise during the course of the week. Your tasks would include bin monitoring, moving and some paperwork and photography to record the sensational recycling and waste minimisation that we hope will happen during the week. You won't have to touch any rubbish!! The work will mostly take place during and after meal times. There is enormous potential to divert a lot of material away from landfill and lessen the footprint of the convention. If you can help out with this, even for only part of the week, or would like more info, please contact Fay Loveland on fay_loveland@yahoo.com.au or call 0405 790 150.
